Bruce B. Gonce
Candidate for Cape Coral City Councilman, District 3
My name is Bruce Gonce and I am running for the Cape Coral City Council position in District 3. My family has lived, worked, paid taxes, and been educated in Cape Coral for the last eighteen years.
We, the citizens of Cape Coral, have a government that tends to come “at” us rather than responsibly managing our tax money. More importantly, we have had to pay for their mistakes. Recent headlines report such costly errors. The rising cost of impact fees and assessment fees for the utility expansions are also examples. The people of Cape Coral should never again have their homes put in jeopardy because of the irresponsible decisions made by a few.
This election is unique with 22 candidates vying for 5 seats. It’s an opportunity to elect a council of like minds and philosophies in order to advance the Cape to a new plateau where growth and expenditures are balanced. Citizens should be able to plan their budget around reasonable municipal fees and property taxes. The Cape Coral City Council needs to adopt a business philosophy at the core of its operations. The hot topics of the election are taxes, a run away budget, increased fees and the trust of City Officials.

I am offering my working knowledge and business experience of over twenty-five years. I am the business owner of an appraisal company named Gonce Appraisal Service.
-
My working knowledge and experience as a past City Councilman in another community gives me understanding of governmental operations. I held a councilman seat in a similar real estate market now being experienced by Cape Coral and Lee County.
-
I am a Special Magistrate for the Lee County Value Adjustment Board. This has given me a unique insight between the relationship of assessed property values, property taxes, budgets and mil levies.
-
I am one of the few still actively working candidates in District 3 running for the Council position.
-
I see and talk to people throughout the Cape in my business. I know their frustrations and distrust of the city government.
-
It’s time for a change and a new approach to city government. And that change begins with the City Council.
